Care for the environment is one of VEB.RF’s priorities in sustainable development. In line with best international practice, VEB.RF implements the Green Office principles of reducing the adverse environmental impact in its housekeeping activities. A package of measures being implemented at VEB.RF is aimed at energy saving, rational consumption of paper, water and heat, reduction in noxious atmospheric emissions resulting from using office transport and rational waste utilization. According to the results of the first all-Russian rating “Green Offices of Russia – 2014”, VEB.RF was ranked among leaders in this rating organized by Ecobureau GREENS supported by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and the Department for Environmental Management and Protection of Moscow. VEB.RF also became the winner of the competition ‘Green office -2015’organized by the Department for Environmental Management and Protection of Moscow in the category “Best System of Responsible Purchases.”
VEB.RF’s Environmental Policy is driven by the lifecycle approach and provides for cutting
back the adverse environmental impact of the Bank’s housekeeping activities at all of its stages:
from purchasing goods, works and services to the expiry of service life and utilization.
Vnesheconombank’s Environmental Policy is based on the following principles:
- Green procurement policy taking into account environmental characteristics of goods, works and services, giving preferences for the products that have a positive or a minimum negative environmental impact
- Sustainable resource consumption aimed at reducing the amount of resources consumed including electricity, heat, water, paper and other supplies as well as optimizing the use of office transport, reducing the amount of waste and its rational utilization including office equipment and IT component parts and raising the Bank’s employees’ environmental awareness
- Environmental impact management providing for implementing a comprehensive accounting and monitoring system related to environmental aspects of housekeeping activities as well as implementing the Bank’s environmental action plans.
