Vnesheconombank acted as a general partner of the Exhibition “Rene Lalique’s Art”, which opened on September 16, 2010 at the Exhibition Hall of the Kremlin Assumption Belfry.

The project is a key event as part of the year of Russia in France.

For the first time, the exhibition acquaints the Russian public with the works of an outstanding French art nouveau jewelry and glass artist who was the first art nouveau jeweler in Europe in the 19th-20th centuries.

The unique exhibit display shows nearly a hundred works of the artist including jewelry and drawings of the late 19th and early 20th century as well as art nouveau and art deco glass. The exhibits were made available by museums of various countries and renowned private collectors.

Opening the exhibition, Management Board Member-Vnesheconombank Deputy Chairman Sergei Lykov said: “Relations between Russia and France have long and deep-rooted history. The revival of our cultural and economic ties today is the most important thing. Today’s Reno Lalique’s exhibition has something in common with the exhibition staged in Saint-Petersburg in 1903 where a lot Rene Lalique’s pieces of jewelry were exhibited along with paintings by such well-known Russian painters as K. Korovin and A. Benua. At the time, the author exhibited his works himself. Today, after more than 100 years ago, Vnesheconombank is trying to uphold these traditions. We are sure that our cooperation would bring our peoples closer and please millions of art lovers.

Rene Lalique is the world’s known art nouveau jeweler, a silver-and gold-smith, a brilliant drawer, stylist and designer and the greatest art deco glass maker. He is one of the greatest artists of his time. Even during Lalique’s lifetime his creations became classics of the 20th century and had a profound impact on European designers. His works were purchased by his admirers, serious art collectors and famous museums. During the visit by Emperor Nicholas 1 to France (1896) and the visit by President of the French Republic Felix Faure to Russia (1897) Lalique’s works symbolized friendly relations between the two countries.

The retrospective exhibition ”Rene Lalique’s Art”at the Exhibition Hall of the Kremlin Belfry is the first major display of the artist’s works in Russia.

The Exhibition is open to the public until January 9, 2011.

A ceremony to open an air terminal complex of the Sochi International Airport took place in the city of Sochi.

State Corporation ‘Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank)’ acted as a key creditor of the project. In 2009, Vnesheconombank and OJSC the Sochi International Airport signed an Agreement providing for Vnesheconombank to open a credit line for OJSC the Sochi International Airport for an amount of 5.7 billion rubles for a period of 10 years. Under the Resolution of the Russian Government “On the Programme to Build Olympic Facilities and Develop the City of Sochi as a Mountain Climate Resort”, the Sochi International Airport Modernization Project was granted a status of Olympic facility.

OJSC the Sochi International Airport is incorporated in the aviation sector of Bazovyi Element Company. Since 2007 the airport has been managed by Bazel Aero.
