Vnesheconombank and Belarusbank have signed a USD30m credit facility agreement. The loan proceeds will be used to purchase Russian railway products.

Vnesheconombank has provided the loan to Belarusbank to finance the cost of Russian rails and railway switches for the Belarusian Railway.

“Supporting non-commodity exports is a strategic area of operation for Vnesheconombank. We operate both in the new markets of the South-East Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and in the traditional markets, such as C.I.S. Promoting the supplies of railway products to the Republic of Belarus will also enhance the integration processes in Eurasia,” noted Daniil Algulyan, Senior Vice President and Head of International Business, Exports, and Financial Institutions at Vnesheconombank.

“This joint investment project supported by our Russian colleagues is essential for both our VIP customer, Belarusian Railway, and for the economy of Belarus on the whole,” said Viktor Perepelitsa, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at Belarusbank. “We highly value the trust of our business partners.”

From aerated dough to a car insurance drone: startups from Voronezh present their million-rouble ideas to VEB and NTV

Voronezh became the eighth city where the casting was held for the Million-Rouble Idea, a TV programme about technology startups and innovators. At the casting, the judging panel representing Vnesheconombank, NTV, and the regional innovation eco-system has evaluated about twenty ideas and inventions. They include products for agriculture, machine building, bio-medical technologies, and cross-industry solutions.

Many of the ideas presented at the casting have been invented by high-school and university students. Such active involvement by young innovators can be attributed to a strong educational framework existing in the region. Projects presented at the casting included a number of advanced solutions from the Voronezh State University, Voronezh State Medical University, Voronezh State Agricultural University, and other higher education institutions. The experts have also singled out for praise projects designed at Quantorium, an engineering competence centre for children and youth.

“Voronezh has a well-developed eco-system of innovation. The experts estimate that at least twenty thousand people are currently engaged in the region’s IT industry. Not only government authorities are ready to provide support for innovators, but also other entities, e.g. the local technology entrepreneurship association and business incubators. There is also the exciting children’s technopark, Quantorium, – an engineering competence centre for children and youth. Guided by their tutors, the children have presented a number of high-potential projects at the casting. Several tens of universities operating in the region also have an impact on the expansion of this eco-system. This diversity results in a variety of areas for startup-based innovation, ranging from agriculture to healthcare and the industrial sector. Some universities have in place special units that help researchers commercialise their inventions. It is important to support this emerging innovative environment. The demand for innovation, which is already shaping the region’s industrial sector, will become a key impetus for the further growth of this eco-system,” noted Aleksey Ivanchenko, Deputy Chairman and member of the Management Board at Vnesheconombank.

The judging panel has shortlisted the Aerated Dough, an invention by Nikita Yevseyev, for the participation in the TV programme. His technology provides for baking bread from flours of different grades by aerating the dough into a foamy mass. According to the inventor, his solution accelerates the baking process by 40 times, while allowing the use of healthy flours (rye, whole-seed) to make soft and fluffy bread. This ready-to-use product has been already adopted by some bakeries, while the project itself is ready to be scaled up.

CarCrushDrone is another high-potential, cross-industry firmware solution based on drone photography and videography for the use in the insurance industry.

“In Voronezh, all elements of an innovation eco-system have been successfully put together. Many things are already up and running. For example, we have prototyping centres that facilitate the creation of prototypes. We also have engineering centres that offer advice on product development. The key advice to all participants of the casting, and to startups in general, is to start working with your industrial partners. They will provide you with feedback and help you move in the right direction with your product,” noted Aleksey Sukhachev, head of the Techstart Technology Entrepreneurship Association.
