Vnesheconombank has started providing funding to SarAero-Invest (Renova Group) for the construction of new airport ‘Tsentralniy’ in the vicinity of Saratov. The project value amounts to RUB7.7billion, with Vnesheconombank’s approved commitment at RUB5.4billion. The decision to support the construction was taken by the Bank’s supervisory board at the end of 2017.
The sources of financing for the project include the deposit placed by the National Wealth Fund with Vnesheconombank.
“The new airport will be built from scratch. It is expected to be capable of accepting any modern planes and handling up to 1 million passengers annually,” said Dmitry Kurdyukov, Vnesheconombank’s First Deputy Chairman and Member of the Management Board.
Attracting finance to infrastructure such as the modernisation of big international hub airports, construction and refurbishment of airport terminals is one of Vnesheconombank’s top strategic priorities.
“Vnesheconombank has provided funding to construct and refurbish airports in Sochi, Sheremetyevo Airport’s terminal D, Kurumoch Airport in Samara, the passenger terminal in Vladivostok International Airport and Pulkovo Airport in Saint Petersburg. The Bank is now also reviewing the project for the construction of a new terminal in Khabarovsk International Airport,” said Dmitry Kurdyukov.
Vnesheconombank’s actual support to airport infrastructure has exceeded RUB53.5billion.
